Observation deck features glass elevator, transparent boxes, mirror-filled rooms
Skyline aficionados are in for a treat. An observation deck built into Manhattan’s One Vanderbilt Tower proclaiming itself the world’s “most immersive observatory experience,” will open to the public on Oct. 21.

The high-in-the-sky deck called SUMMIT One Vanderbilt will feature an all-glass elevator which travels more than 1,200 feet off the ground, transparent glass boxes, and a mirror-themed art installation called “Air.”
The art installation was designed by Kenzo Digital, and is described by One Vanderbilt owner SL Green as a “walk-through art experience and story of both literal and figurative reflection.”
“The excitement surrounding SUMMIT One Vanderbilt has been overwhelming,” said Marc Holliday, Chairman and CEO of SL Green. “Now that we are finally able to offer a glimpse into the awe-inspiring, multi-level and multi-room immersive art experience that is Air, people will begin to understand how different this destination is from any other in the world.”
One Vanderbilt visitors will be able to ascend up the outside of the building in an all-glass elevator, or stand in transparent boxes called “Levitation,” that jut out the side of the structure more than 1,000 feet in the air.
“We can’t wait to welcome New Yorkers and visitors to New York to experience this truly unique destination right in the heart of Manhattan connected to Grand Central Terminal,” Holliday said.
The new attractions are part of a 65,000-square-foot entertainment space and observation deck located at the summit of One Vanderbilt, a $3.3 billion development boasting the fourth tallest building height in New York City at 1,401 feet.
“People are going to want to come back to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt again and again,” said Holliday.
Tickets for SUMMIT One Vanderbilt recently went on sale and start at $39 for adults.
